One person died, five – including four police officers – were injured as a result of a clash between security forces and armed persons in the province of Sistan and Belugistan in the southeast of Iran. It is reported by the Iranian agency IRNA with reference to sources in power structures.
The incident occurred in the city of Chabahar, where security forces entered into a shootout with an armed group, allegedly related to a terrorist organization. As a result, one of the attackers was killed, another was injured. Four police officers also suffered.
Sources in law enforcement agencies did not provide information about the personality of the attackers or belonging to a particular organization. However, it is known that in this region there is a group “Jaish al-Adl”, recognized in Iran terrorist. Members of the group periodically attacks the province of Sistan and Belujistan, bordering Pakistan.
The Jaish al-Adl group carries out armed activities against the Tehran administration, claiming the “protection of the rights of the Sunni population of Beluga origin.”
