Climate change changes terms and routes of bird flights

Environmental crises caused by a global climate change also led to the change of routes and the deadline for migration of migratory birds.

“World Bird Day” is celebrated annually on May 14 in order to increase the awareness of the population about the protection of bird habitats.

The theme of the shares of the “World Day Bird Day” of the 2023th year was “Water”, as the main habitat of birds.

Millions of birds around the world migrate all year round, crossing oceans and continents in search of food and a comfortable habitat. About 40 percent of all species of birds (at least 4000 species) regularly migrate. Studies conducted by scientists have shown that global warming has a negative effect on millions of living creatures, including migratory birds. At the same time, the life of migratory birds is tied to aquatic ecosystems. Many other factors, such as environmental pollution and reduction of pure water, have a negative impact on birds,

The vast majority of migratory birds throughout their lives rely on water resources. These birds use water-bolot lands for feeding, nesting and rest before a long flight.

According to a study published in the journal Nature Climate Change, as the Earth’s temperature rises, the spring season occurs earlier than usual, so migratory birds often have to begin migration earlier than usual.

For example, some species of birds, such as a black -zone blue Kamyshevka, began to migrate about a week earlier, compared to the last 50 years.

Some species of birds are not able to adapt to climate changes in comparison with others, so they miss the opportunity to multiply normally.

A sudden change of weather is at the risk of birds migrating south in the fall. Due to climate change, the migration period becomes longer, and approaches the end of autumn. At the same time, a sudden onset of cold weather leads to the death of these birds.

Change of route of migratory birds will also cause new species of plants in the places where they are sent.
