Composition of sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia

Permanent representatives of the European Union states approved the sixth package of sanctions against Russia. In particular, the EU approved a partial ban on Russian oil, the Sberbank disconnection from Swift, but excluded Patriarch Kirill from the sanctions list and canceled the oil embargo for Hungary. It is reported by Bloomberg.

In particular, introduced:

– a ban on the purchase of raw oil from Russia delivered to the member state by the sea (within six months);

– a ban on the purchase of oil products (within eight months).

– Disconnecting “Sberbank” from the international payment system SWIFT. The same restriction concerns the Moscow Credit Bank and Rosselkhozbank;

– a ban on insurance related to the shipment of oil of the Russian Federation to third countries. It will enter into force six months after the adoption of these sanctions and is aimed at restricting the Kremlin’s ability to redirect oil supplies to other countries of the world.

In addition, introduced:

– a ban on the provision of consulting services to Russian companies and trading a number of chemicals;

– sanctions against Alina Kabaeva;

– sanctions against military personnel, including persons found guilty of war crimes in Buch, as well as companies supplying equipment, materials and services for the RF Armed Forces.

At the same time:

– pipeline oil will be temporarily preserved as the concession of Hungary and other countries that do not have access to the sea, which depend on the supplies from Russia for the Friendship pipeline.

– EU representatives agreed to exclude from the list of the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, who actively supports President Vladimir Putin and his war in Ukraine;

Measures will be taken after their publication in the EU official journal.
