Congestion on border of Russia with Azerbaijan sharply decreased

Having accelerated the customs verification procedure, the Russian side increased the throughput of the Yarag-Casmarlar checkpoint on the border of Azerbaijan with Russia, through which Azerbaijani agricultural products are mainly transported.

The press service of the customs of Dagestan reports that the number of freight vehicles in front of the border checkpoint for entry into Russia decreased by nine times – from more than three thousand to 340 vehicles.

As noted in the department, positive changes at the border were the result of a set of measures taken by the customs structures of the North Caucasus.

“The fundamental change is associated with the opening of the movement through the automobile checkpoints” Tagirkent -Casmalyar “and” Novo -Pil, – said Dagestan in the Customs Department. – if in April 2022 vehicles crossed the border between Russia and Azerbaijan only through The Yarag-Casmalya checkpoint, then at the moment, three checkpoints are provided to their services, to which they can drive up in ten lanes. Thus, not 400 cars are crossed by Russia today, as it was before, but eight hundred ” .

It should be noted that due to the limited throughput of the Yarag-Casmarlar checkpoint for a long time, there was a problem of cargo transit that delivered to Russia mainly agricultural products. Endless lines on the border often led to corruption of products and caused tangible damage to the interests of Azerbaijani farmers.
