Construction work at the block No. 1 of the Akkuy NPP, which is under construction in the Gulnar region in the Turkish province of Mersin, is completed. According to Romants, a lot of tests were carried out at the nuclear power plant in the framework of preparation for operation.
He recalled that according to the intergovernmental agreement between Turkey and Russia, the power unit should begin to generate electricity 7 years after receiving a license for the construction of the first power unit. However, every effort is being made to reduce these terms, ”said Romanets.
“This year a very important step was taken in terms of commissioning the first power unit. The first batch of nuclear fuel was delivered to the site of the nuclear power plant. Fuel delivery is the first important step when commissioning an atomic power unit. He noted that at the same time the work related to the construction of the second and third power units of nuclear power plants continues. The introduction of other power units is planned to be carried out with an interval of one year, added Romanets.
