Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Rustem Umerov said that, on instructions from the country’s president, he held consultations through intermediaries in Turkey and the UAE on the resumption of the exchange of prisoners of war with Russia.
Umerov announced this in his publication on the Telegram social network.
“As a result of these negotiations, the parties agreed to activate the Istanbul agreements. We are talking about the release of 1,200 Ukrainians,” Rustem said Umerov.
According to him, technical negotiations will take place in the near future, which should “secure all procedural and organizational issues.”
