Countries G7 could not agree on terms of refusal of coal generation

The ministers on climate, energy and environment of the countries of the seven groups (G7) could not agree on the timing of the phased refusal of coal power plants.

A two -day meeting was held under the chairmanship of Japan in the city of Sapporo Hokkaido province in the north of the country.

The joint declaration following the meeting says that the ministers could not establish the final date of the phased refusal of coal power plants.

In order to achieve the goal of creating energy systems with the zero balance of emissions no later than by 2050, the G-7 countries pledged to accelerate the gradual refusal of non-consulting types of fossil fuel.

The ministers agreed to reduce the volume of greenhouse emissions in the automobile sphere by 50 percent. Emissions should be reduced in comparison with the same 2000 indicator.

The final declaration emphasizes the need to reduce natural gas consumption. It is stated that investments in this sector can help eliminate the potential energy deficit.

Electricity, produced by renewable energy sources, will be significantly increased. It is also promised to increase the capacity of marine wind farms to 150 gigavatts by 2030.
