Court in Armenia postponed meeting in case of Kocharyan

The court hearing in the case of ex-president of Armenia Robert Kocharian and former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorkyan was postponed to February 14, the Armenian media reported.

Judge Anna Danibekyan said that the translator Sona Ovannisyan notified about the impossibility of her participation in the meeting for health reasons.

At the same time, Ovannisyan sent explanations to the court regarding a number of terms contained in one of the documents (the text of the document is compiled in English).

Representatives of the defense and accusations did not satisfy these explanations, the judge decided to postpone the meeting to ensure the presence of the translator.

Ex-President of Armenia Robert Kocharian and former deputy chairman of the government Armen Gevorkyan are held as accused as part of the same criminal case. Kocharyan is charged with receiving a bribe on an especially large scale, and Gevorkyan – money laundering.
