Cuba’s medical specialists on Monday began the third stage of clinical trials of their own vaccine against Coronavirus Abdala, the Ministry of Health of the Republic reported.
Abdala vaccine is the second Cuban preparation, successfully reached the final stage of research. According to the department, 48 thousand people between the ages of 19 and 80 in the eastern provinces of Grangma, Guantanamo and Santiago de Cuba take part in the tests that will last until April 9. President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro on Sunday reported that since the beginning of April it is planned to begin the tests of the Cuban drug Abdala in the Bolivarian Republic, TASS reports.
Also in Cuba began voluntary vaccination from the coronavirus of medical personnel of the local vaccine Soberana 02. In total, Cuban doctors have developed five vaccines.
According to official data, more than 67 thousand cases of infection revealed on the island of freedom, 397 people have died, more than 63 thousand patients recovered. The leadership of the Republic plans to vaccinate the entire population of Cuba in 2021.
