Customs officers of GUAM countries discussed project to improve transit of goods through borders

On April 6, another meeting of the Organization’s Steering Committee for Democracy and Economic Development – Guam on Trade Facilitation and Transport Promotion Project in online format took place. About this Haqqin.Az reported in the press service of the State Customs Service

From the Azerbaijani side, managers and responsible persons of the relevant structures of the State Customs Committee took part.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the project to improve the movement of transit cargo across the borders of the GUAM member states through the use of digital technologies. Establishment of information on innovations in the customs area in member countries, strengthening cooperation in connection with the simplification of procedures when moving goods and vehicles to customs and border checkpoints, deepening cooperation in the economy, trade and transport.

Welcoming the participants, coordinator of the program of the Secretariat Guam Sabuchi Tamirov thanked GUAM member countries for attention paid to the field of customs cooperation.

The presentation of the State Customs Committee on electronic services was held in connection with the further expansion of the use of information technologies in the organization of the customs.

In the presentation of the Azerbaijani side, reflected a change in “Preferential and simplified rules for intersection of the customs border of goods not intended for production or commercial purposes by individuals”, project “electronic queue system created to regulate the passage of vehicles through customs points of pass”, Twinning project “Support for the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the process of accession to the Convention on Simplifying Documentation in Commerce and New Computerized Transit System (NTS)” and other activities carried out in the system of customs authorities.

The representatives of the Georgian, Moldavian and Ukrainian Parties were made with detailed information on innovations used in their countries in the customs sphere, expressed confidence that the interaction would further strengthen and fruitful cooperation will contribute to the acceleration of international trade and improving the business environment.
