Czech Republic, taking into account the situation in Ukraine, intends to quickly strengthen its combat capability to buy military equipment from Western manufacturers. This was announced by the website of the newspaper Mladá Fronta Dnes with reference to the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Jan Chernukhov.
“It is already clear that the demand [in the global market for weapons] due to events in Ukraine greatly exceeds the proposal. For the Czech Republic [I will say] that if we quickly find the available technique on the market, which will correspond [list fixed] In our strategic documents [related to defense of the republic], then we will not think. As soon as it is possible to buy something, I will instantly imagine the government a proposal to change the budget [Ministry of Defense], “the head of department noted.
Czech Republic, according to her, considers, in particular, the opportunity to buy more military helicopters in the United States. Negotiations with American manufacturers have already begun. According to the previously concluded contract between Prague and Washington, the Air Force must receive 12 helicopters, but this is not enough for the defense of the country in a situation that is observed in Ukraine.
In addition, according to the newspaper, we are talking about fighters, armored personnel carriers, as well as an increase in the number of personal composition of the national army formed on a contract basis.
