The death toll from floods caused by heavy rains in Mexico has risen to 64. Another 65 people remain missing.
The National Civil Protection Coordination Office (CNPC) said the death toll has increased since last week due to heavy rains caused by tropical storms Priscilla and “Raymond”.
It is noted that the largest number of dead and missing were recorded in the states of Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, Queretaro and San Luis Potosi.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum at a daily press conference at the Palace of the Nation said that rescue teams have been mobilized to provide assistance to the affected regions.
Sheinbaum noted that additional teams have been sent to flooded areas to more effectively deliver clothing, hygiene products, drinking water and food.
“We will do everything possible to restore and support those affected by the disaster,” she noted.
According to Mexican media, as a result of the largest in recent years, the number of Mexicans affected by the flood exceeded 250 thousand people, and the number of damaged houses reached 50 thousand.
