Defense appealed arrest of accused of bribery, Deputy Minister Timur Ivanov

Protection appealed the arrest of Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Timur Ivanov on charges of receiving a bribe. This was announced by TASS by lawyer Denis Baluev.

“The defense filed an appeal against Ivanov’s election of a preventive measure in the form of detention,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

According to him, the defense asks to cancel the court order of the arrest and choose a preventive measure not related to deprivation of liberty.

Earlier, on April 24, the Basmanny Court of Moscow was detained by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Timur Ivanov, who accused of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale. The court also chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to two more defendants in the case – Sergey Borodin and Alexander Fomin.

The head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, removed Timur Ivanov from the post of deputy minister. In addition, the metropolitan court imposed interim measures for real estate, assets and bank accounts of the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ivanov and his relatives.
