Delegation of World Bank came to Baku and noted progress of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with the World Bank delegation headed by Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde.

The Cabinet reports that the meeting was emphasized that next year the 30th anniversary of the establishment of partnership between Azerbaijan and the World Bank will be celebrated. Asadov noted the importance of strengthening further cooperation between Azerbaijan with the World Bank.

Anna Bjerda noted that over the past years, Azerbaijan has become a low-income country with a high income country.

She also noted a high level of vaccination in Azerbaijan and successful activities in this area. Bjerd stated that in 2021 heights in the economy of Azerbaijan.

The parties discussed issues related to the preparation of a new World Bank Framework Document on Azerbaijan Partnership, the Bank’s participation in the implementation of the “Socio-Economic Development Strategy of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026” and the restoration of liberated territories.

In completion between the Azerbaijani side and the WB, a new agreement was signed on the creation and functioning of offices in Azerbaijan. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov and Anna Bjerd.
