Denmark from today began to perform the duties of the presiding country in the Council of the European Union, replacing Poland, which held this post from January 1.
For the next six months, Copenhagen will play a key role in the formation of the EU agenda. As part of her chairmanship, Denmark chose a slogan: “Strong Europe in a changing world.”
Among the main priorities – strengthening the strategic autonomy of Europe in the field of defense, increasing the competitiveness of the EU countries in the global market, promoting the goal of climatic neutrality by 2050, the fight against illegal migration, as well as the process of expanding the union.
Denmark’s chairmanship will end on January 1, 2026, after which the Greek community of the Southern Cyprus will accept the baton.
