Deputy Arman Arakelyan arrested in Chelyabinsk

On Thursday, March 4, the security forces detained the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Chelyabinsk region from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Arman Arakelyan. He is being interrogated in the case of corruption in the MBU “Operation of external engineering networks of the city of Chelyabinsk”, as well as in a criminal case related to government contracts for road construction, reports “74 Chelyabinsk Online”. Employees of the municipal budgetary institution were detained several weeks earlier.

According to the Internet newspaper, the detained officials confessed. They also reported that Arman Arakelyan’s road company provided them with some assistance. Most likely, the deputy will not be charged, and he will act as a witness in the case, the newspaper writes.

At the moment, searches are underway in the offices of companies owned by the deputy’s relatives. The siloviki raided the Stroykontinent LLC and Dorstroygroup, which are located on Yeniseiskaya Street.

Arman Arakelyan became a member of the Legislative Assembly from the Communist Party in the fall of 2020. Previously, he was nominated by the United Russia party, but lost the primaries, after which he went to the communists. Prior to that, Arman Arakelyan was a deputy of the Kalinin regional council of Chelyabinsk.
