Deputy Minister: Armenia prevents safe return of forced immigrants

Azerbaijani civilians continue to receive serious injuries and die because Armenians refuse to share accurate information about the mines, said Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov at a hearing in the International Court of the UN.

The deputy minister noted that the former forced persons of Azerbaijan in connection with the mine threat cannot take advantage of their right to return to their home and safely return there.

“45 people of the total number of Minants who died in the explosion among the civilian population of Azerbaijan died after the court decision on temporary measures in 2021. And the number of victims only continues to grow,” said E. Mamedov.

According to him, more recently, in December last year, 7 Azerbaijanis were injured and one died as a result of an explosion of mines in the village of Chirag in a previously occupied Kyalbadzharsky district. “This village is located 25 km from the Azerbaijano-Armenian border, and neither during the first or during the Second Karabakh wars through the village there were no defensive lines. Four of the victims of the explosion were civilian employees of the telecommunications company. They were occupied with important restorations work, ”said the deputy minister.
