Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan: problems on border with Russia are resolved

“problems that previously existed at border points during road transportation between Azerbaijan and Russia were resolved.” This was announced at a tripartite meeting with representatives of Russia and Iran by the deputy prime minister of Azerbaijan Shakhin Mustafaev.

Vice Prime Minister noted that in 2022, the Yalama-Gasmalar Automobile bridge was built on the Azerbaijani-Russian border on the Samur River, and Shirvanla, Yenikhanubar, Tahirkend.

“An increase in the bandwidth of the border points, the construction of new ones, the simplification of border crossing procedures create the basis for increasing the volume of cargo transportation through Azerbaijan,” said Mustafaev.

According to him, in January-August this year, transit cargo transportation through the territory of Azerbaijan increased by 47% compared to the same period last year.

“Azerbaijan, located at the Center for International Transport Corridors of the North-South and East-West, has currently turned into an important transport and logistics center of the region. There are close historical ties, common cultural values ​​between our countries. Azerbaijan is interested in developing strategic relations , political, economic and cultural relations with both countries. In particular, the North-South International Transport Corridor, which is our countries, is one of the largest projects of transport cooperation: this corridor is of great importance in terms of economic efficiency, the possibility of transporting large volumes cargo, saving time and security, ”said Sh. Mustafaev.
