Detained By Vasim Assad, Cousin Of Head Of Syrian Regime Bashar Assad

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Syria announced the detention of a cousin of the overthrown head of the regime Bashar al -Assad – Vasim Assad – during the operation to ensure security.

According to the statement published in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vasim Assad was detained as a result of an operation conducted by the Main Institute of Intelligence together with the units subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior.

“The main intelligence department, in cooperation with the relevant divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, arranged an ambush and detained the criminal Vasim Assad, involved in the numerous crimes of the previous regime. He was known as one of the most influential drug trafficking in the country,” the statement said.

Who is Vasim Assad

Born in 1980, married, lives in the city of Tartus. For many years, Vasim Assad was considered a key figure in the Syrian drug trafficking. It is under the sanctions of the United States and the European Union.

He received special fame as the organizer of the production and smuggling of narcotic tablets. It was considered one of the most influential participants in the drug post from both the financial and logistics point of view.
