Digital Silk Road project in center of international attention

Digital Silk Way project (Digital Silk Way) was presented at the World Exhibition Dubai Expo and the Capacity Middle East 2022 global telecommunications event, causing a wide international interest.

The objective of the project is the creation of a telecommunications corridor passing through Azerbaijan and connecting Europe with Asia. The project, initiated by Neqsol Holding and implemented by Azertelecom, is the development of information technology and digital ecosystem in the country, as well as the transformation of Azerbaijan into a digital center of the region.

The presentation of the project took place at the Event “Digital Silk Road” – Communication Without Borders “held in the Pavilion of Azerbaijan at the Dubai Expo World Exhibition. The event was attended by representatives of TRANSTELECOM, Turk Telekom International, Telecom Italia Sparkle, Telekom Malaysia, Gulf Bridge International – Telecom Qatar, OneWeb, Telegraph 42 Management GmbH, FastWeb, NTT and other influential international companies.

In addition, at the event of Capacity Middle East 2022 in Dubai, international partners expressed great interest in the project. At the event, negotiations were held with Google, Cienna, Lumen, Neverra, China Telecom Global, China Mobile International, Vodafone Carrier Services, Turkcell Superonline, Vodafone Turkey, Batelco, Stc and other major international companies. The project agreed on the model of cooperation with various telecommunications operators and suppliers, as well as the signing of memorandums about mutual understanding.

“Digital Silk Road”, formed between Europe and Asia through Azerbaijan, will make an important contribution to the development of digitalization and communication services in the region. The presentation of the project on global events, useful discussions and the agreements reached showed the serious interest of international partners. The project will contribute to the transformation of Azerbaijan into a digital center of the region, in addition to the status of the energy and transport center.

In 2020, at the Global Strategic Infrastructure Forum Leadership Forum in the US, Digital Silk Way project (Digital Silk Road) was chosen as one of the five best strategic infrastructure projects in Asia.
