Disagreements Between Damascus Administration And PKK/YPG Terrorist Organization On Integration Continue

The US Ambassador to Ankara and the Special Messenger in Syria Tom Barrak said that the disagreement between the Damascus administration and the PKK/YPG terrorist organization on the integration of the northeastern part of Syria continues.

Barrak made this statement to the Associated Press (AP) news agency after meeting with Syria President Ahmed al-Shara and the leader of PKK/YPG Ferkhate Abdi Abdi Shchakhin in the capital of Damascus.

indicating that the RSC/YPG, which uses the name SDF, insists on the existence of a separate block as part of the Syrian army, Barrak noted that this situation continues to remain a “main problem” between the parties.

Agreement between central authority and PKK/YPG

On March 10, Syria President Ahmed Shara signed an agreement with one of the heads of PKK/YPG Ferkhate Abdi Shahin.

The agreement provides for a ceasefire throughout Syria, recognizes the Kurdish community an integral part of the state and guarantees them citizenship and constitutional rights.

The agreement should ensure the integration of civil and military structures in the northeast of Syria in the Syrian State Administration.
