The situation with the incidence of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in Azerbaijan is under control, said the director of the Republican AIDS Center for the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, the name of the Mammadov, speaking at the event on the “fight against AIDS”.

According to him, according to official statistics, there are 38.4 million people living with HIV in the world, about 40 million people died from HIV.

Mammadov noted that in Azerbaijan it was possible to localize the spread of HIV among people related to risk groups. According to him, this became possible thanks to long anti-epidemic measures: “Azerbaijan is one of countries with the smallest number of infected HIV. The situation in the country is under control. There are no epidemic bursts. Over the past 10 months, 695 HIV-infected ones have been identified, including 680 citizens of Azerbaijan. 68% of the percent were men and 32% – women. “

The results of successful HIV treatment in Azerbaijan approached 86 percent: “Sometimes the infected people do not dare to consult a doctor in time. Recall that all test samples are taken anonymously”.
