Due To Eruption Of Volcano, International Flights Were Canceled In Indonesia

The eruption of the Stratovolkan Levotobi Laki-Laki, located in the East Flores area of the East Small Sunda Islands in Indonesia, led to the formation of a powerful cloud of volcanic ash and the abolition of international flights in the region.

According to the statement published by the State Management Company Angkasa Pura Indonesia, in connection with increased volcanic activity, flights were canceled at the NGURI International Airport on the island of Bali, as well as in a number of other airports of the region.

Among the abolished flights are the flights of Australian airlines JetStar and Virgin Australia, Indian Air India, New Zealand Air New Zealand, Singapore Singapore Airlines and Chinese Juneoo Airlines.

AIRASIA Indonesian air carrier also canceled a significant number of internal flights.

The eruption of the Levotobi volcano

Levotobi Laki -Laki (male levotobi) – one of the two peaks of the dwarf volcano Levotobi – threw the ashes to a height of up to 10 kilometers. The formed mushroom -shaped cloud of ash was evident even from settlements located at a distance of about 150 kilometers from the volcano.

A state of emergency is declared in the region, the evacuation of residents of nearby villages is carried out due to risk to health associated with the spread of ash.

Indonesia, located on the Pacific “Fire Ring” – a zone with high seismic and volcanic activity – has 130 existing volcanoes.

As a result of the eruption of the Levotobi volcano, Laki-Laki-Laki in November 2024 died 9 people, dozens were injured.
