Dushanbe Advocated Formation Of Common Cyber Rapid Response Team Of CIS Countries

Against the background of the rapid growth of cyber threats, the CIS states may for the first time receive their own “cyber special forces”. A representative of Tajikistan made such a proposal at the conference of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure in Tashkent.

As Tajik media reported, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of National Security of Tajikistan Farkhod Saidzoda said that Dushanbe proposes to establish an interstate rapid response operational group that will unite the best IT specialists from the CIS countries.

According to him, the new cyber squad should become a “common” shield” from attacks that are rapidly becoming more complex and often go beyond national borders.

According to the Tajik side, the group’s tasks will include round-the-clock monitoring of network threats, real-time exchange of intelligence data, joint scenarios for responding to hacker attacks, and assistance to CIS countries in strengthening national cyber defense systems.

A special priority, as the deputy chairman indicated, is energy, finance, government systems and transport, that is, sectors that most often become the purpose of complex and costly attacks.

According to the CIS Cyber Security Monitoring Center, the number of attacks on the digital infrastructure of the Commonwealth countries has increased by more than 70% in two years. Most incidents are cross-border in nature, which makes their investigation almost impossible without coordination between states.
