Dushanbe: opening of Central Cathedral Mosque took place

As part of the state visit of Emir Katar Sheikh Tamim Ibn Hamad Al Tanya, the opening ceremony of the Central Cathedral Mosque in Dushanbe was held to the Republic of Tajikistan, the press service of the Tajik leader reports.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Emir Catari gave a high appreciation to the quality of completed work, which were carried out in accordance with the traditions and intricacies of national architecture, which embodies a skillful combination of national values ​​and religious traditions.

Rachmon expressed gratitude to Sheikh Tamim Ibn Hamad Al Tanya for his contribution to the construction of the mosque, and called the project a high example of cooperation between the two countries.

It was proposed to name the central cathedral mosque of the city of Dushanbe by the name “Imam Azam – Abu Hanifa Numon Ibny Sobit” for his outstanding merits to the Islamic world.

The construction of the mosque began on October 5, 2011. The mosque is built on 12 hectares, the mosque building is located on 3 hectares and has 3 large entrances. The mosque is designed for 133 thousand people, of which 43 thousand can be inside the mosque.

The mosque consists of 4 minarets 74 meters high, two small decorative minarets 21 meters high, a large beautiful dome 43 meters high and 17 small domes 35 meters high.

Inside the mosque there are 6 spacious training audiences, a hall for receiving guests and holding meetings, 2 libraries, 9 working rooms, 3 hotels and technical premises. 6630 cubic meters of tiles and 2800 cubic meters of black marble were used for the finish of the mosque. The yard inside the building with a fountain occupies an area of ​​4800 square meters, accommodates at the same time 8,000 prayers. In total, there are 178 doors in the mosque, 40 of which are made of walnut wood. During the construction of the mosque, the techniques of the ancient Tajik architecture were taken into account.
