Ecologists in Germany drove cows to Bundestag building in protest

International Non -governmental Ecological Organization “Greenpeace” and a working group for farming in Central Germany (ABL) brought a herd of cows to the Bundestag lawn in protest against the conditions of animal maintenance.

Promotion participants who deployed a banner with the inscription “Cows on the pasture!”, left the herd to graze on the lawn in front of the Bundestag building.

In an interview with Anadol, the representative of Greenpeace Lasse Van Ansen said that the herd of cows in the center of Berlin is possible and looks strange, but it is pastures and meadows that are the natural habitat of these animals. “Unfortunately, most of the cattle in Germany spend 70 percent of the year in cowsheds. We want to pay attention to the fact that the cow is an animal that grazes on the pasture,” Aquen said.

Ecologist called on the Minister of Food and Agriculture of Germany Jem Ozdemir to initiate a national support program for grazing cows in pastures. “We call for the creation of a targeted support program for farmers so that farmers can cope with the situation,” Aquen said.
