Ecowas defense ministers are discussing situation in Niger

The Defense Ministers of the Economic Community of the West African States (ECOWAS) began two -day negotiations dedicated to the situation in Niger in the capital of Nigeria Abuja.

It is expected that on Wednesday to Niger will go to the Ecowas delegation for negotiations with the military who have shifted the country’s president Muhammad Bazum last week.

On July 26, it became known that part of the employees of the presidential guard Niger opposed the President Bazum, who was captured and suspended from power. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Niger said that the military command supported the fighters of the presidential guard who opposed Bazum. The new leader of the country was declared army General Abdurakhman Tchiana.

USA, France, EU, African Union, Ecowas condemned a military coup.
