Ecowas instructed headquarters chiefs to bring reserve forces in readiness

The Summit of the Economic Community of Western Africa (ECOWAS) instructed the chiefs of the headquarters of the countries – members of the organization to immediately bring the reserve forces of the community.

This was announced by the chairman of the Ecowas commission Omar Aliu Turay.

“The chiefs of the headquarters of the ECOWAS countries are instructed to bring backup forces in all their aspects with the task of restoring the constitutional order in Niger. All options for restoring the constitutional order are on the table,” the summit said in the Communist Committee. P>

Ecowas reserve forces, which were included in the cat-d’Ivoire and Liberia in 2003, Guinea-Bisau in 2012 and Mali in 2013 as peacekeeping forces, are trying to maintain stability in these countries.

Ecowas forces can only be involved after the adoption of a joint decision of the organization or sanction of the African Union.

ECOWAS can collect from the member countries an “operational group” of about 2750 people and the “main force” of 3750 people.

Reserve forces consisting of civilians, police and the military have training centers in Mali, Nigeria and Ghana.
