Egyptian Khalid al-Anaany was elected CEO of the United Nations on Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) instead of Frenchwoman Azule.
According to the official Egyptian agency Mena, according to the results of Anani’s voting, he became the new Director of UNESCO. After the election, he congratulated the Secretary General and noted that he is the first Egyptian and Arab to take this position since the founding of the organization in 1945.
