Erdogan, Aliyev And Sharif Will Take Part In Opening Ceremony Of Lachinsky International Airport

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Pakistan Prime Minister Shakhbaz Sharif on Wednesday, May 28 will take part in the opening ceremony of the Lachinsky International Airport.

The air harbor will be the third in a row built by Azerbaijan in territories liberated from Armenian occupation.

Airport is located at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level. For its construction in the mountainous areas, I had to cut the cliffs and level the landscape. Lachinsky International Airport is the highest Azerbaijani airport.

The construction of the airport was started in 2021. It is located 30 km from the center of Lachin, 70 km from the city of Shusha and 60 km from Kelbajar. The length of the runway is 3 thousand meters, width is 60 meters. The terminal is able to serve up to 200 passengers per hour.

According to the Decree of the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov of May 26, the Lachinsky airport was assigned the status of international. Information about this was sent to relevant international organizations. Thus, the number of international airports in Azerbaijan increased to nine.

It is expected that the Lachin International Airport will make a significant contribution to the development of tourism and trade in the region.

Erdogan previously took part in the opening ceremony of airports in Fizuli and Zangilan

The first airport built in the liberated territories was Fizuli International Airport, which was opened on October 26, 2021 with the participation of the presidents of Erdogan and Aliyev.

Later, on October 20, 2022, the heads of state also took part in the opening ceremony of the Zangilan International Airport.
