Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the implementation of the project of the Big Istanbul tunnel.

“We will implement the project of the Big Istanbul tunnel. This project will be the third tunnel, which will be held under the Istanbul Strait (Bosphorus) after Marmarai and the Eurasian Tunnel,” the head of state said at the mass rally held on Sunday in Istanbul.

The President noted that the large Istanbul tunnel will connect 11 different railway lines of the metropolis.

6.5 million people will use it annually, Erdogan emphasized.

The Turkish leader also said that this year the project of connecting the Bakhchelielier-Kirazls metro line, Yenikapi-Ingirli-Sefakey and Khalkali-Stambulsky Airport will be completed.

“Next year, we are completing the Altunizade-Bosna Boulevard railway line, Goebze-Most Javuz Sultan Selim, and the line of a high-speed train between the airport and Halkali is at the stage of the tender,” said Erdogan.
