One of the most active volcanoes in Europe – Etna in southern Italy – again reminded himself of his powerful eruption on Tuesday night. From the southeastern crater at an altitude of about 2900 meters, ashes and lava flows began to erupt, reports Anadola with reference to local sources.
The intensive phase of the eruption continued until the early morning. Lava dragged along the southeastern slope of the volcano, accompanied by emissions of ash, which fell in the settlements nearby-especially in the Dzafferans-Etnea commune. Clouds of volcanic ash were distributed in the eastern and southeastern directions.
The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology Italy (INGV) confirmed the completion of the eruption in the morning. Despite the volcanic activity, the work of the Fontanarossa International Sitting Airport, located next to Etn, was not violated – all flights were carried out according to the schedule.
This eruption has already become 13th in recent months. Previously, the activity of the volcano was also recorded in February and April. Etna about 3300 meters high remains the highest active volcano in continental Europe.
