EU Allocated To Ukraine 1.9 Billion Euros From Frozen Russian Assets

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denish Shmygal said that the European Union (EU) allocated to Ukraine 1.9 billion euros as military assistance from frozen Russian assets.

In a statement on his page in Telegram, the Prime Minister recalled that on May 9, a meeting of foreign ministers of the EU countries was held in Lviv.

According to Shmygal, at a meeting in which the Supreme EU Supreme EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas also took part, the European Union announced a new assistance package for Ukraine.

He said that 1.9 billion euros are allocated from frozen Russian assets as military assistance to Ukraine.

“This is a historical solution, because the funds received from frozen Russian assets will be used to purchase weapons for Ukraine through the European Fund of the World,” the prime minister said.

After the meeting of the EU foreign ministers in Lviv Shmygal, Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga and the EU Supreme EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kallas held a joint press conference.

Speaking at a press conference, the prime minister said that a “special court” should be created against Russia for the war and today they discussed this issue with representatives of different countries.

Having stated that they have been working on the creation of such a court for a long time, Shmygal added: “We are grateful to our partners for supporting this initiative.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Sibiga, in turn, emphasized the importance of the visit of the foreign ministers of European countries to his country on the day of Europe.

“The center of European policy has moved to Ukraine,” he said.

Having expressed the gratitude of the EU for the new military assistance allocated to Ukraine, Sibiga emphasized: “Our goal is to speed up the integration of the Ukrainian and European defense industry.”

The Minister noted that they will continue to work on accelerating the process of integration of Ukraine into the EU structures.
