EU And Central Asia Activate Political Dialogue And Implement Agreements

In the capital of Tajikistan, a meeting was held on the implementation of decisions of the first summit “Central Asia – European Union”.

According to the Hovar news agency, as part of the 12th meeting of a high-level dialogue on politics and security, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ismatullo Nasrudin was accepted by the Deputy Secretary General of the European Service for Foreign Acts on Political Issues of Olof Skogog.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the issues of expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of the achieved agreements within the framework of the first summit Central Asia – the European Union.

The first in history of the Central Asia -European Union summit took place on June 2, 2023 in the city of Cholpon -Ata in Kyrgyzstan with the participation of heads of states of the five Central Asian countries and the chairman of the European Council Charles Michel.

During the meeting, the parties signed a joint statement that indicated key partnerships: economic interconnectedness, green transformation, digital development, sustainable management of water resources, environmental protection, as well as support for education, culture and humanitarian ties.

Additional attention was paid to the issues of expanding trade, attracting investments and developing transport and logistics routes. The parties confirmed the desire to strengthen regional integration and long -term sustainable development.

The implementation of the agreements reached within the framework of the summit is supported by the EU initiatives, including through the Global Gateway strategic platform, which provides for investment support for projects in Central Asia.
