EU established mission in Moldova as part of joint security and defense policy

The EU Council established in Moldova the Civil Mission of EUPM Moldova “in order to strengthen the stability of the security sector.” This is stated in the message of the EU Council on Monday.

The statement recalls that the Moldovan authorities approved the start of the work of a special civilian mission on April 24, which will advise the government in matters of counteracting hybrid and cybernetic threats, as well as help strengthen the stability of the security sector, crisis and hybrid threats, including cybersecurity and counteracting manipulation information and foreign intervention.

“Efforts on the destabilization of Moldova were noticeably intensified after Russia began a war in Ukraine. This poses a direct threat of stability and security of the external borders of the EU,” the EU Council said further in the message of the EU Council.
