A new mechanism called Aggregateu is necessary for preparing for winter and saving funds, said Deputy Head of the European Commission Marosh Shevchovich at a press conference in Brussels.
According to Shevchovich, the idea of Aggregateeu is perceived positively. “As part of the tender, offers of 13.4 billion cubic meters were received, while we announced the readiness to purchase 11.6 billion cubic meters. I want to thank 25 suppliers who responded to the AGGREGATEU tender,” he said.
According to him, European countries will make maximum efforts to fill in gas storages in the winter season. Importers can buy pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the world market, gas exporters from Russia are excluded from tenders.
He noted that the joint procurement operator will soon conclude contracts with suppliers.
Last week, Brussels announced the first tender for the joint purchase of gas. The need was evaluated on the basis of applications for 77 EU companies for gas supply until May of this year.
