EU Supports Initiatives Of Armenia “on Regional Reconciliation”

The European Union expressed the support of the Armenian initiative “Crossroads of the World”, aimed at “the development of regional interaction and reconciliation.” This is stated in a joint statement following negotiations in Brussels with the participation of the chairman of the European Commission Ursula von der Lyain, the head of the European Council Antoniu Koshta and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikola Pashinyan.

Speaking before the meeting, von der Layen emphasized the importance of achieving consent on the draft peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“This will put an end to many years of enmity. I hope that the agreement will be able to sign in the near future,” she said.

Pashinyan, in turn, noted that the cooperation between Armenia and the EU is developing dynamically and Yerevan intends to continue the course on European integration.

The joint statement of the European Union emphasizes the support from Brussels of the initiative of Armenia on the “development of regional interaction and reconciliation”, as well as the approval of Yerevan’s efforts in peace negotiations with Azerbaijan and the process of normalizing relations with Turkey.

In addition, as indicated in the document, the EU considers Armenia to participate in regional and economic initiatives as part of the European Union strategy in the Black Sea region.
