Eurasian Development Bank hopes for accession of Turkey

The head of the Eurasian Development Bank (EBR) Nikolai Podguzov expects that Turkey over time IK Bank.

He told the correspondent of the Anadol agency in the fields of the 46th Association of the Development Institutes of the Asia-Pacific region (Adfiap), organized by the EBR in Almaty. Anadolu agency is a “global communication partner” of the event.

He noted that Turkey plays a very important role in the Eurasian economy and geopolitics. “Even if we do not conduct specific negotiations on this issue at the moment, we are interested in the potential participation of Turkey in the Eurasian Bank of Development,” said Podguzov.

According to him, the EBR currently launches joint projects with Turkish investors in Central Asia, in particular, in Kazakhstan. “We consider the cooperation of our bank with Turkey, taking into account the relations of Kazakhstan with Turkey and Russia with Turkey,” the head of the bank explained.

Podguzov said that the Eurasian Development Bank allocated $ 1 million to eliminate the consequences of earthquakes that occurred in Turkey on February 6th.

The Eurasian Development Bank (EBR) is an international financial organization that engaged in investment activities aimed at developing economies, trade and economic ties and integration processes in the countries of the Eurasian region. Created in 2006. The headquarters of the bank is located in Alma-Ata (Kazakhstan). The EBR has a branch in St. Petersburg, representative offices in Astana, Bishkek, Dushanbe, Yerevan, Minsk, Moscow.

The Eurasian Development Bank was created on the initiative of the Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan on January 12, 2006. In 2009, the list of EABR participants was expanded. It included Armenia and Tajikistan. In 2010, Belarus joined the bank, and in 2011 – Kyrgyzstan. Other states and international organizations may join an agreement on the establishment of a bank.
