EUROMISION: Whatever Europe has to abandon Russian hydrocarbons

The European Union must take rid of the supply of hydrocarbons from Russia, despite the rise in prices and the high proportion of Russian imports in some community countries. This was stated by the European Commissioner on the Domestic Market of Thierry Breton on Radio France Info.

“by all means Europe should get rid of Russia as a supplier of hydrocarbons,” – quotes Breton TASS.

He noted that this is, as the economic sanctions introduced against Russia, it is necessary to stop financing Russian special operation in Ukraine. Nevertheless, the European Commissioner admitted that at the moment Russia receives € 800 million per day due to gas and oil exports.

According to Breton, Russia plays an important role in the supply of hydrocarbons to Europe, while a number of countries are extremely dependent on them, in particular Germans, Italy and Hungary.

“The European Commission will help the EU governments to overcome the effects of price increase. Europe has enough reserves to overcome this crisis. Now we need to think about how to prepare for the next winter and 2023 in general,” he said.
