Europe wants to cancel part of sanctions against Russian banks

The European Union intends to cancel part of the sanctions against Russian banks in order to facilitate the export of food and fertilizer, Reuters said.

Banks of VTB, PSB, VEB, SOCCOMBAK, NovICOMBAK, as well as “Otkritie” and “Russia” want to bring out from the sanctions. According to the agency, the services of these banks are necessary for the purchase of agricultural products from Russia.

It is also planned to facilitate the export of food from Russian ports, the service of which has stopped after the introduction of European sanctions.

As stated in the draft document, all this will be approved after “how it will be determined that these funds or economic resources are necessary for the purchase, import or transportation of agricultural and food products, including wheat and fertilizer”.
