European Parliament to punish ex-Chancellor of Germany for work in a Russian company

the European Parliament decided to impose sanctions against ex-Chancellor Germany Gerhard Schroeder and the former head of the Austrian Foreign Ministry Karin Knaisl, if they do not abandon posts in Russian companies, reports Welt.

The draft corresponding resolution of the European Parliament indicates that both former politicians work in the Russian Corporation Rosneft. At the same time, Welt recalls that the resolutions of the European Parliament do not oblige the executive bodies of the EU. This document, for example, contains only an call to the EU advice to impose on the sanctions in case they decide to maintain their posts.
