European Union will allocate 41 million euros to strengthen defense

The Council of the European Union on Friday, April 5 approved the assistance of the Moldova Armed Forces in the amount of 41 million euros.

According to the Moldovan state media, the money will go over the next three years.

Moldova will be able to purchase cars, air surveillance equipment for the allocated funds, for electronic warfare and logistics.

“This will help the Armed Forces of Moldova to increase operational efficiency, to approach the EU standards and thus better protect the civilian population in crisis and emergency situations,” the EU Council said.

Assistance is also aimed at strengthening the potential of Moldova to participate in the missions and operations of the EU as part of the general security and defense policy, follows from the message.

The amount was provided at the request submitted by Moldova on February 5 this year. She will complement other support measures taken in May 2023, June 2022 and December 2021.
