In the Sumgaita court for serious crimes, the trial in the criminal case of former judge Ilyas Makhmudov, accused of bribery, continues.
According to haqqın.az, the ex-Sudya did not agree with the accusations against him during interrogation in court, calling them false and fabricated. Makhmudov claimed that his former secretary Saadat Veliev and Ilah Mamedli, head of the Court of Channel:
were to blame for everything:
“Expertise was carried out 9 times. None of them confirmed the authenticity of my signature. And the official seal can use any”.
According to Makhmudov’s testimony, in 2018, an inspection group of the Ministry of Justice came to the court. The Office for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General’s Office filed a complaint that 6 fake decisions were made without the participation of citizens and representatives of the Zangilan branch of the State Fund of Social Protection. The former judge said that the audit revealed his complete innocence. However, after some time a criminal case was opened against him.
The prosecution insists that Makhmudov, working in the Sumgayyt City Court, took bribes on several civil cases, which were under consideration in 2008-2019, and made biased decisions. According to the claim, one of these decisions was associated with the debt of a citizen Hajar Gadzhieva OJSC Azerishig. It is claimed that for this ex-Sudya received 250 manat from a woman. Makhmudov denied his guilt and stated that Ilah Mamedli took a bribe from his son Gadzhieva.
Another charge is associated with the publication of Makhmudov decisions indicating knowingly false information on determining the length of service and disability of individual citizens. The former judge said to this that the court did not appoint a pension, but establishes the fact of disability – on the basis of documents received from the institutions of the Ministry of Labor. And he added that the Zangilan branch of the SFSZ about these documents did not have any questions.
Makhmudov also affected the charges of fake 19 court decisions. He accused Saadat Veliev of this crime. He also demanded to interrogate on this fact the then chairman of the Sumgait city court.
The next court hearing will be held on November 14th.
Note that on the basis of materials received from the Ministry of Labor and the State Fund, social protection on the fact of unreasonable appointments of pensions and other violations related to illegal decisions that were adopted on behalf of the city of Sumgait, the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption against Makhmudov instituted a criminal business.
The investigation found that Ilyas Makhmudov, during the work of the judge of the Sumgait City Court in 2008-2019, took bribes in exchange for certain decisions. In particular, for the indicated period, the accused managed to submit to the relevant institutions illegal judicial documents related to the determination of work experience and disability. On this basis, pensions totaling more than 243 thousand manat were illegally paid.
