The export of Turkish engineering products in January-May 2023 reached a record $ 11.7 billion. Such data are brought on Wednesday by the Association of Exporters of Machines and Equipment (MAİB).
In the first five months of the year, the average export price for kg of products exceeded $ 7. Although the volume of exports in quantitative terms has decreased, the revenue of the sector has grown.
Exporting indicator to Russia and Germany – the main markets for products of Turkish engineering enterprises, approached 10 dollars per kilogram. In third place – the USA (12.3 dollars).
Directly in May, the export of engineering products from Turkey grew by 12.7 percent to $ 2.4 billion.
The head of the Mai̇b Kutlu Karavelioglu informed Anadolu that the growth in export in the first five months is mainly due to deliveries to the Russian Federation.
The sector representatives make efforts to achieve the same success in the European market by the end of the year, he added. According to him, in the first five months, this task was complicated by the influence of factors such as the conflict of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, the February earthquakes with the epicenter in Kamhramanmarash and the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey.
European countries for a long time cannot advance in terms of industrial transformation and this is a chance for the Turkish machine -building sector, says Caravelioglu.
