The former midfielder of the Iri team said that his wife and daughter were going to join him on vacation in Dubai, but the plane was redirected so as not to let them out of the country. The aircraft landed on the island in the Persian Gulf, and the Daei family was removed from the flight without explanation.
Ali Dai is the second scorer in the history of the national teams. In 2021, he was bypassed by the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, who currently scored 118 goals. Earlier this year, Daei supported mass protests in Iran, which covered the whole country after the death of Mahsa Amini.
