Fire Broke Out At Cargo Terminal Of International Airport In Dhaka, Bangladesh

A fire broke out at the cargo terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka.

According to a report by Bangladesh-based newspaper Dhaka Tribune, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) spokesman Kauser Mahmood said the fire broke out at the cargo terminal of the international airport. Hazrat Shahjalal, where mainly imported goods are stored.

Teams consisting of representatives of the Bangladesh Army, security forces and firefighters quickly responded to the fire and are continuing coordinated efforts to extinguish it.

Talha bin Jasim, spokesman for the Bangladesh Fire and Civil Defense Department, noted that The fire was reported at 2:30 p.m. local time and that 37 fire crews were on the scene.

Airport officials said that as part of safety precautions, all flights at the airport were suspended and aircraft from hangars were moved to other areas to prevent possible damage.

The fire has affected the routes of many arriving and departing flights were changed or delayed.
