Fitch lowered rating of Belarus

International rating agency Fitch lowered a long-term default rating of the issuer (IDE) of Belarus in foreign currency before “CCC” with “B”, transmits Interfax.

The Agency noted that the decrease is associated with a number of factors, among which are possible sanctions, and the role of Belarus in Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. All this, as believed in Fitch, creates a threat to macro-finance stability. The Agency does not expect Belarus serious financial support to repay Eurobonds in 2023 Russia and remind that the geopolitical risks of Belarus, as before, are at a high level.

in Fitch expressed doubt in the ability of Belarus to fulfill their external obligations, and found its financial future very uncertain.
