Flood Death Toll In Southern Thailand Reaches 162

The death toll from floods caused by heavy rainfall in southern Thailand has reached 162.

Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) said more than 1.4 million households and more than 3.8 million people were negatively affected by the disaster, which affected 12 regions.

Authorities said the death toll rose in eight regions of the country. to 162. At the same time, the highest death toll was recorded in Songkhla province – 126.

According to the Prime Minister of Thailand Anuthin Chanvirakun, the government will begin paying compensation to flood victims next week, and also plans to implement various support programs.

The DDPM noted that the water level in all affected areas has begun to decline.
