As a result of heavy rains and subsequent floods in Niger in the west of Nigeria, at least 21 people died. This was reported in the State Emergency Situations Agency (SEMA).
As the general director of the agency Ibrahim Khusseini said, the element fell on the district of Mokov. Among the dead there are children. In addition, according to him, 10 people are missing, many more were injured.
The flood damaged the infrastructure and flooded about 50 residential buildings. Search and rescue work continues in the region.
Earlier, the Ministry of Water Resources of Nigeria issued a warning about strong precipitation and possible floods in a number of areas of the country.
