Floods in Afghan province of Mountains carried away lives of at least 50 people

at least 50 people died in the Afghan province of mountains in the west of the country as a result of floods caused by powerful rainfalls.

Large -scale floods in Afghanistan have been continuing since last week, in particular in the northern regions of the country.

According to the press secretary of the administration of the Governor of the Gore of Abdulvahid Hamas, at least 50 people died and dozens were missing due to floods that continue in the region from May 17.

Search and rescue work continues. In the Firuzkukh (Chagcharan) area, 2 thousand houses were damaged, about 1000 heads of livestock were killed, agricultural land was flooded, Hamas noted.

Earlier, the UN World Food Program (UN RFP) said that the floods in the Afghan province of Baglan took away the lives of at least 300 people.

Powerful floods that fell on the country on May 10-11 were observed in the provinces of Baglan, Badakhshan and Tahar.
